Classic Train Journeys

The romance of the Classic Train Journey has never been lost ... and it now seems to be making a return to the top of the list for those adventurous travellers seeking a new and exciting way to experience some of the exotic places that many of these trains can take you ~ amongst some of the great experiences are:

In Europe, you can experience the famous Royal Scotsman, or the legendary Orient Express. Now of course, there is also the classic Eastern & Oriental Express which will take you from Singapore to Bangkok, or vice versa.

The Trans Siberian Express, which has survived an often turbulent history, has always been a favourite of the adventure traveller, journeying from Vladivistock to Moscow. There are also the Trans Mongolian, Trans Manchurian and Trans Kazakstan journeys winding their way throughout China, Vietnam and Central Asia ~ however, be aware that, whilst still offering inforgettable adventures, these are not  'luxury' trains.

"The Silk Route by Private Train" is however a truly luxurious experience, travelling Beijing to Moscow (or return) combining both train and luxury hotels along the route.

India offers the truly luxurious Palace On Wheels, on it's splendid and enchanting Royal journey through the bygone era of the erstwhile Maharajas.

In Africa you can join the debate about whether the Blue Train or Rovos Rail is the best? If you haven't been on either of these legendary trains then now is the time to try ... combine with one of our exclusive safari tours for an unforgettable Africa experience.

Canada has the famed Rocky Mountaineer (Gold Leaf class of course) offering a variety of itineraries through the Canadian Rockies, whilst the McKinley Explorer will provide you with a truly Alaskan Adventure.

One of the lesser known, but equally inspiring, is the Deluxe Sierra Madre Express. There is no better way of experiencing Mexico's Copper Canyon!

  • Sadly, the Andalusian Express, which was a great way to explore Spain's beautiful Andalucia region, went into liquidation in late 2006. However, we can still produce exciting self-drive itineraries, sometimes combined with other general train travel throughout Spain.
